I became a doctor because my grandfather used to let me cover him in band-aids. In college, I first understood what dementia was when my grandmother cooked Thanksgiving dinner and the turkey was raw. I later became a geriatrician when I saw the ways in which the traditional healthcare system strips older adults of their dignity. Instead, I believe that healthcare should enable us to do the things that bring us joy.

Where do I find joy? I'm a mom of 2 preschoolers (Lilah and Miles) and wife to a supportive husband (Sam) who has dedicated his career to K-8 education. I'm also a daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter. I grew up in Boston and love the fall, quilting by hand and that feeling you get when you hike to the top of a mountain. I've lived all over the country, enjoy traveling and am now happy to call Houston home.
